Task-based teaching method advocates the "students-centred" principle,which encourages students to learn and use language through completing a series of communicative tasks.Task-based Teaching is not a new method,it has already been studied since 1980s.At present,it is widely applied in the second language teaching area worldwide.In our country,the first introduction and research about Task-based teaching method started in English teaching area.In the area of teaching Chinese as a second language,researching on task-based teaching started a little late,and the research results were mainly on the theory rather than the application.From Jun,2015 to Mar,2016,I taught Chinese in Australian international school Manila as a volunteer.In the beginning,I used traditional teaching method which emphasizes the teacher-centred principle.However,this method ignored students'initiative,soon exposured its weakness.Therefore,I tried to apply task-based teaching method in Chinese speaking class,and gained some good feedback at last.In this paper I pointed out both the advantage and defect of applying task-based teaching method in Chinese speaking class on the base of my concrete practice.I hope this paper can provide some useful suggestions for international Chinese teachers.
