The Europeanization And Its Optimization Of The Chinese Translation Of English Practical Writing

The Opening-Up policy of China in the last century has attracted many foreign-capital and joint-venture enterprises and companies,which results in the high demand for the translation of documents from foreign languages to Chinese or from Chinese to foreign languages.Most of the foreign documents are written in English with various English styles,such as styles of practical writing,journalistic styles,advertising styles,etc.Taking practical writing for example,it is characterized with simplicity and clarity.Therefore,translators must consider the features of practical writing in the source text to avoid Europeanization in translating the English documents into the target text.This thesis is based on the author's proofreading task of the translation project of the safety rules for"The Fuller Company",when practicing in Nanjing Oriental Translation Institute.The author focuses on the study of Europeanization in long sentences of English practical writing and selects four kinds of long sentences:long simple sentences,long compound sentences,long complex sentences and long compound-complex sentences,to clarify how translators can optimize Europeanization in long sentences of the target text and how the four translating strategies of omission,postposition,dismantling and synthesis work in optimization to make the target text more concise and fluent.
