From May 2015 to March 2016,the author has been a Chinese volunteer teacher in Samutprakarn puayhua school,a famous Chinese school in the middle of Thailand.Samutprakarn puayhua school carried out a variety of Chinese activities every year,such as Chinese songs contest and Dragon Boat Festival.Based on Harold D.Lasswell's 5w communication model and combined with questionnaire survey and interview,this paper finds following problems of the Chinese activities in Samutprakarn puayhua school.From the perspective of cultural communicators,Chinese teachers' enthusiasm is low,cultural transmission ability is desired and Chinese activity management system needs improving.From the perspective of communication content,Chinese activities lack interest,practicality,experience and modernity.From the perspective of communication media,the current media form is single and inefficient and the utilization rate of multimedia equipment is low.From the perspective of communicative effect,cognitively,most students want to carry on Chinese activities,suggesting once a month;emotionally,skill activities don't get well-received whereas experience-strong activities like watching Chinese movies get better responses;attitudinally,Chinese activities are helpful for broadening students' horizon,improving Chinese,cultivating Chinese cultural literacy and enhancing learning motivation;behaviorally,Chinese activities only have positive impact on a small number of students.Therefore,combined with the school's reality,referring to the theories of cultural communication,cultural experience and educational psychology,the author puts forward some improvement strategies: from the perspective of cultural communicators,continuously improve Chinese teachers' enthusiasm,cultural transmission ability and Chinese activity management system;from the perspective of communication content,constantly add interest,practicality,experience and modernity to Chinese activities;from the perspective of communication media,onone hand,enrich media forms and encourage more publicity,on the other hand,improve modern equipment and Chinese teachers' ability mastering multimedia;from the perspective of scope of audience,constantly expand the scope of audience,get students to play their principal roles in it.Finally,this paper introduces design principals of Chinese activities and gives a whole and primary design to Samutprakarn puayhua school's annual Chinese activities.Furthermore,this paper takes Spring festival activities and Chinese screen culture week activities as a case study to analyze the school's Chinese activities,hoping to be helpful for Thailand Samutprakarn puayhua school or other Chinese schools to organize Chinese activities.
