Literary theory text is a special type of text, the main function of which is to provide academic information and arouse the attention of the public in a certain area. The original text consists of many terminologies with complex background which are quite obscure for ordinary people.Besides, authors of these texts usually cite the original definition made by scholars as well as poetries so as to illustrate a point. All of these make it harder for translators to finish their task. The translation is supposed to be both right and fluent. On the basis of Eugene Nida's functional equivalence theory, this report makes a study on the translation strategies of the Lying with Sea-gull: The Ecofeminist Dialogics of Beauty in Robinson Jeffers' s “The Inhumanist”.It mainly focuses on the translation of words, complex sentences and the poetry included. What's more,it makes a brief introduction to Robinson Jeffers and the writing background of his works as well. The author hopes that the translation strategies in this paper will be of certain significance to the future study of literary theory text translation.
