This thesis aims to study the E-C translation of enterprise websites through a case study of Tradeshift website translation and from the perspective of Skopos Theory.According to Skopos Theory,translation purpose decides the whole translation process,and the selection of translation methods and strategies should be determined by the expected function and goal of the target texts.Skopos Theory provides a guideline for the translation of texts like enterprise websites.Enterprise website is a window for an enterprise to publicize itself and for the outside world to learn about it.The texts of Chinese and enterprise websites both have informative and appellative functions.At the same time,because of the big differences between China and the West in language and culture,the texts of Chinese and foreign enterprise website have different characteristics in word usage,sentence structure and language style.In the E-C translation of foreign enterprise website,these differences should be taken into consideration.In this paper,a detailed analysis of specific examples is made about the website translation.In vocabulary translation,meaning extension and conversion are adopted to ensure the accuracy.In sentence translation,strategies such as omission,amplification,division,combination are adopted to assure readability of the translation.In the aspect of language style,much importance is attached to slogans and figures of speech.The author considers it important to adopt flexible translation strategies in order to achieve the goal of enterprise publicity.And the author hopes that the discussion in this thesis will shed light on the study of E-C translation of foreign website translation.
