The Difficulties In Translating Transcripts Of Impromptu Interviews And Their Solutions

The paper attempts to explore the translation of impromptu interview transcripts based on a real project finished by GIIT students at SISU.Unlike written texts in a conventional sense,the source text carries with it characteristics of spoken language.Unfamiliarity with these characteristics and a lack of related translation experience have led to improper selection of translation approaches,thus resulting in loss of meaning,inaccurate translation or even outright re-writing in desperation.Through analyzing the language features of the source text,examining the mistakes made during the translation process and comparing revised version with the original,the paper aims to present the challenges in translating this type of text and to propose a few solutions for translators who are dealing with similar texts.
