Classification is the mental activity which individuals classify the object based on the perception of the information.C lassification play an important role in children's cognitive development and it is an important part of cognitive development,not only an important manifestation of the child's thought formation,but also the quantity concept formation and right counting of children.Because of the defects of perception,memory,learning speed,attention,language and thinking,the students with Intellectual Disability have difficulties of the formation of cognition,and have a slow progress in education of classification.C urrently achievements on the normal student's classification activity in domestic and international has been made quite rich,but the ability to classify and other related academic research have not been taken seriously in education and psychology.Research on the C lassification Ability for the students with Intellectual Disability in the Schools for the mentally retarded is helpful to trends of classification level of children,but also can provide practical basis for cognition development and teaching,improve classificatio n teaching efficiency of students with Intellectual Disability.This research studies the classification level and behavior of the student with Intellectual Disability,used individual tests and observation method,by using a self-designed little game software of “Object Classification” for the students with Intellectual Disability in the schools for the mentally retarded,select 149 students with Intellectual Disability,use tablet finger sliding operation,study the development rule and characteristics of classification activities,the specific contents of the students with intellectual disabilities include classification level,the development characteristics and behavior.C lassification level summarized as the following stages from low to high: the first stage,classify according to the perceptual features;the second stage,classify according to the situation;the third stage,classify according to the function;the fourth stage,classify according to the concept.The development characteristics include two elements: the developmental characteristics of low,middle and high school students with Intellectual Disability and different gender.Behavior includes three elements: emotional behavior,language,and action.Emotional behavior includes positive emotions,neutral emotions,and negative emotions;Languages include no language,soliloquize,assisted cognitive language and assisted classification language;Actions include no action,no meaning action,assisted cognitive action and assisted classification action.Results of the study are: The classification capability of the students with Intellectual Disabilities gradually increased with the grade,the time gradually is shortening,the difference between the grades is obvious,the difference between the sex is not obvious;The development trend of students with intellectual disabilities classification level are: from classify by perceptual tend to classify by conception gradually.Low-grade students with intellectual disabilities tend to classify by perceptual features firstly,by situation secondly.Middle and high grade students with intellectual disabilities tend to classify by conception firstly,by function secondly;Students with intellectual disabilities are interested in the multimedia-assisted classification games.Most of them performance the positive emotions,mostly performance the language of assisted cognitive and classification,and mostly show no action.According to the findings,we put the following educational suggestions: Pay attention to the classification capability development of the students with Intellectual Disabilities,develop teaching combined with intellectual disabilities students' cognitive discipline,promote the development of students with Intellectual Disability;According to development characteristics of students with intellectual disabilities of different grade,carry out educational activities targeted classification;Develop a positive emotions,strengthen language development and body movements,to assist the education of the students with Intellectual Disability.
