Geography is a basic course of high school curriculum.According to the requirements of the new curriculum standards,geography should be cultivating citizens necessary geographical knowledge and discussing the issue of geographical,paying ttention to social development problem such as population,resources and environment.However,in senior high school,geography teaching has been in an embarrassing position,to which schools,teachers and students attach less importance.Students gradually lose interest in the learning process,rarely learning or giving up geography,which leads to decreased performance in this subject,and students who cannot reach the requirements of the curriculum standards become the geography LDs.From the perspective of learning and teaching,this paper makes a strategy research on the learning interest of the geography LDs in senior high school.Based on the literature review,the author adopts two kinds of research methods: questionnaire and comparative analysis.Through the investigation of classroom learning,interest in geography learning and the extra-curricular access to geographical knowledge of the geography LDs in Yantai Qingquan School,the author makes an analysis of the current situation of learning interest of the geography LDs from the aspects of students,teachers and subject characteristics.The findings show that in the aspect of students,students attach less importance to geography,and the overall level of learning motivation is low.Besides,students have inferior leaning initiative and bad learning habits.In the aspect of teachers,the teaching mode in class is traditional,lacking innovation,and the utilization rate of modern educational technology is also low.In the aspect of subject characteristics,natural geography is more difficult for students who have poor basis and are short of knowledge reserve.Through the questionnaire and comparative analysis,combining with the current situation of learning interest of the geography LDs,the author puts forward the strategies to improve the learning interest of the geography LDs from the aspects of students' learning strategies and teaching strategies.(1)students' learning strategies include: attach importance to the geography subject,and strengthen the education of value of the geography subject;improve students' learning motivation;improve the success consciousness of the geography LDs;develop good habits of learning geography.(2)teaching strategies include: designinteresting lead-in activities to improve the learning interest;allocate various class teaching methods;make effective use of visual teaching methods as well as evaluation and incentive measures;make scientific and reasonable as well as innovative form of assignments.The implementation of these strategies can not only stimulate students' interest in learning geography and enhance students' understanding and master of the geographical knowledge,but also help to promote exchanges and cooperation between the students.This is a kind of teaching mode which adapts to the development of school students,and provides effective reference and help for the teaching and learning of geography teaching in senior high school.
