Foreign fiction as an important form of foreign literature,has been selected in the high school Chinese teaching material for many years.The exotic culture contained in foreign fictions plays an important role in understanding the language style,history,culture and customs of different countries.Learning foreign fictions is conducive for students to broaden their horizons,to improve their knowledge structure,and to form an open multi-cultural mentality,which are in line with the trend of globalization.Over the years,many experts,scholars and front-line teachers are continued to improve the teaching of foreign fictions,and had some achievements.But currently the situation of foreign fictions teaching is still not optimistic.According to the above background,the author took the foreign fictions in Senior Chinese textbook(People's Education Press)as examples to do a teaching research.Eighteen foreign fictions were involved in this version of textbook,among which two and sixteen were selected in compulsory and elective textbook respectively.These selected fictions meet the relevant requirements of both high school Chinese curriculum standards and every unit.They are all elegant and high-quality literature works which content readers and meet their expectations.The author has been an intern in Experimental Middle School affiliated by Hebei Normal University for a semester.In order to find out problems in current foreign fiction teaching,the author made a survey with senior high students during the internship.To ensure the scientificalmess and validity of the result,the author then conducted a sample interview with some first-line Chinese teachers and high school students which were participated in that survey.The result show that some teachers are mainly concerned with the goal of knowledge and ability,but in lack of attention to emotional attitudes and values;the same teaching content and teaching methods as local fictions also make the multicultural appreciation of foreign fiction lacking,so that students' emotional experience was neglected.Students also show many problems in the process of learning,such as lacking interests and time in studying and in deeply reading foreign fictions as well as in understanding the text.In addition,theseforeign fictions in textbooks are Chinese translation works,which may be too domestical in the process of translation.And the inaccurate expression of some words and expressions will also bring trouble in teaching.In general,the causes of these problems are many.Teachers lack in the professional quality of appreciating foreign fictions,students cannot adapt to cultural differences,and the impact of traditional examination and evaluation system are all restrict the development of teaching.Therefore,the author proposed improvements in three aspects of teachers,students and textbooks.First of all,teachers should shift the perception on fiction teaching,increase relative knowledge,and try to enhance their own foreign literary accomplishment.Secondly,students should take a positive and open multi-cultural attitude towards foreign fictions,pay more attention to their own aesthetic experience,enhance the aesthetic awareness of foreign literature.Finally,the teaching materials should be appropriately expanded by its shortcomings,for example,comparing the various translation versions to explore the true meaning of the text,and introducing the foreign originals to feel the charm of foreign fictions closely.To fundamentally improve the teaching of foreign fiction,both strategic guidance and practical teaching methods are needed.This thesis presents four specific teaching methods,namely,the method of scenario reproduction,emotional experience,Chinese and foreign comparison and combination reading with writing.The aim is to fully explore the potential of students,create a scenario so that students can feel the essence of the work;to combine practice to enhance the students' reading experience;to compare the foreign fictions with similar themes to the local fictions to deepen students' understanding of foreign ones;to combine reading and writing,so that students can form their own reading experience after reading texts,and recreate the text with the understanding of foreign fictions on the basis of their own life experience.
