The transfer and application of geographic knowledge and technical skills is one of the goals of the geography teaching.Being able to quickly build up an accurate and effective connection between the information they received and relative prior knowledge can demonstrate students' ability of transferring and applying knowledge.However,this ability is usually restricted by their ability of thinking and their cognitive structure.Mind mapping is one of the most widely used,visualized learning tools.The application and design of mind mapping can connect their prior knowledge and the new situation.Besides,it also presents students' cognitive structure and thinking process,as well as being helpful to lead students construct the knowledge system,perfecting knowledge reserve,optimizing knowledge hierarchy,speeding their thinking excitation,promoting students' ability to use knowledge.By analyzing the research status at home and abroad,some conclusions have been found.The oversea research productions of critical thinking training and mobile learning applications have been achieved for their deep integration of the theory and practice of thinking teaching.However,we pay more attention to summarizing experience from different education levels and teaching practice.Which focus on three aspects:the teaching design of the assistant teaching of mind mapping?its instructional strategies and application effect researches.Related research has yet to be further developed.This paper will be based on thinking training theory and cognitive assimilation theory,which applies some major research methods:documentary study?questionnaire survey?action research.By adopting the research route of theory-study?practical application?practical conclusion could be adopted to teach and study the function of mind mapping in assisting the course of high school geography teaching on students'knowledge use capability.The results show that the application of mind mapping in assisting high school geography teaching could improve and optimize the cognitive structure of their geographic knowledge,as well as promote their ability of knowledge application.Some suggestions are given in teaching process.We should use the mind mapping scientifically and properly.At the same time,please focus on students' abilities of getting and analyzing information and their language expression ability.Six parts will be mentioned in the following:Part one:introduction,which sketches the background?the intention and the meaning of this study.It also introduces briefly the research status at home and abroad.Part two:the concept identification of mind mapping.It states the mind training theory and the Cognitive Assimilation TheoryPart three:analyzing the five function of mind mapping in assisting high school geography teaching combined with the theory.Part four:making the instructional strategies of applying mind mapping to improve students' knowledge application.Part five:teaching practice and results.The show of the mind mapping in assisting high school geography teaching and the evaluation of research results about the usage of the mind mapping among students.Part six:conclusion.Give the final conclusion of this study,and analyze the shortcoming.Then the further prospects of the research on the subject.
