Empirical Study Of China's Population Structure Change Impact On Consumer Demand

Since the reform and opening,China's economy always maintain high growth momentum,with China's rapid economic growth does not adapt the structural problems of economic development,China's economic growth is driven by investment and net exports for a long time,low consumption has become the important factor which restricts the healthy development of our country economy smoothly.At the same time,The structure of the population of China is in transition period,the “aging” and the “decreasing” problem gradually highlights;sex ratio imbalance in the population sex structure;population structure between urban and rural areas in our country construction in the acceleration of urbanization process,the urbanization rate increased;along with the increasing population mean by education period,improving population quality.How to stand in the perspective of population structure to analyze the reason of insufficient consumer demand,has become the focus of our government and academia.Firstly,through reviewing and summarizing the relationship between population structure and consumer demand at home and abroad literature review,discusses about the theory deduction;on this basis,respectively tease out our country population structure on the impact of four dimensions on consumer demand transmission mechanism.Secondly,with the aid of relevant statistics,analyzing of population age structure,sex structure,urban and rural structure,education structure the residents' consumption scale and the residents' consumption structure of our country respectively.Thirdly,From China's population structure change after two aspects of impact on the residents' consumption in scale and structure perspective,using provincial panel data from 1997 to 2014 and the system GMM estimation method for empirical research.Finally according to the result of empirical study,comprehensively summarizing the population structure changes for the influence of residents' consumption in China,and puts forward the corresponding policy recommendations.Study the following basic conclusions.(1)Per capita consumption amount in our country is increasing,but the ratio of consumption to a downward trend.Comparing with the developed countries(regions)and some developing countries,our country residents consumption rate is low,residents' consumption contribution to economic growth is small.(2)China's population structure in the country,aging,decreases and the gender imbalance problem is serious.These problems become the important factor of restricting our consumer demand;population and urbanization rate is rising,to some extent improve the residents' consumption demand in China.(3)China's population age structure and education structure impact on residents' consumption demand structure of our country present certain regularity in the urban and rural areas two models,at the same time there are also some differences.
