With the steady and rapid development of tourism,tourism enterprises need a large number of high-quality tourism professionals.In the context of such a huge demand for tourism industry,the willingness of tourism graduates to obtain employment in tourism industry is surprisingly low.According to the relevant employment research results show that the proportion of tourism graduates'employment rate in the tourism industry is generally between 10%and 20%.After years of studying tourism professional skills and knowledge,graduates of tourism colleges and universities choose not to find employment in the tourism industry,which is a waste of social resources and human capital.It is not conducive to the development of the graduates themselves,nor the development of tourism industry,but also to the development of education.This paper from the perspective of students,graduates in tourism as the research object,using the questionnaire survey method to explore the students'employment intention in the tourism industry.The influence of professional internship on the employment choice of graduates is analyzed,and the reasons for graduates obtain employment in the tourism industry and the reasons for choosing not to obtain employment in the tourism industry are also analyzed,the differences in employment choice of graduates with different backgrounds is discussed,so as to provide reference for solving the phenomenon of low entry rate of tourism graduates.In this paper,the object of this study is the tourism graduates,because of the particularity of the investigation object,the convenience sampling method is adopted.During the period from January to July 2017,the author conducted questionnaire surveys on the graduates of tourism management.In total,343 questionnaires were issued to the tourism graduates,and 322 valid questionnaires were recovered.The effective recovery rate was 93.8%.The study found that 21.7 percent of graduates choose to be employed in the tourism industry,while 58.4 percent of graduates choose not to work in the tourism industry.The results show that the willingness of graduates to obtain employment is not high,and more than half of graduates are reluctant to obtain employment in the tourism industry.54.9%of the students chose direct employment after graduation,indicating that the employment enthusiasm of graduates is still relatively high.First-tier cities are no longer the first choice for graduate employment,and more than half of them choose to find employment in the smaller,relatively lower-cost of living of second and third-tier provincial cities.And as for the nature of the work unit,graduates are no longer blindly pursue to work in government agencies and public institutions,choose more diverse.Tourism related practical experience has a significant impact on whether graduates obtain employment in the travel industry.Graduates who have longer employment internship will more tend to obtain jobs in the tourism industry.The top five reasons why graduates choose to work in the tourism industry are:professional counterparts,continuing to learn new knowledge and skills in the tourism industry,like the industry,work is very challenging in tourism industry,tourism development prospects are pretty well.The top five reasons why graduates choose not to work in the travel industry are:lack of stability in the tourism industry,long working hours in the tourism industry(and work in the holidays),the workload of the tourism industry is too heavy,I feel that my personality is not suitable for engaged in this industry,and I do not want to work in the service sector.Among the students who chose to obtain employment in the tourism industry,graduates of different ages have significant differences in their views on work welfare and development space factors,and the students aged 18 to 25 have a more positive view of the work welfare and development space of the tourism industry.Different degree graduates in view of personal ascension factor and industry factor have significant differences,undergraduates are more accepting of the promotion of tourism work,at the same time,the undergraduates have a more positive view of social factors.Having family engaged in tourism graduates and having no family engaged in tourism graduates' view of industry attitude factor have significant differences.Having family engaged in tourism graduates'attitude to tourism industry more positive.With working experience and with no working experience graduates' views on work welfare and development space factor and industry attitude factor have significant differences.With no work experience graduates' attitude to tourism work benefits and development space are more positive,and more positive on the tourism industry.There is no significant difference in the reasons for the employment of graduates from different genders or different families.For students who choose not to work in the travel industry,graduates of different ages have significant differences in the attitudes of the industry properties,and those aged between 26 and 30 were more accepting of the negative characteristics of the travel industry(long working hours,heavy workload and lack of stability).Graduates of different gender view of industry characteristics factors have significant differences,the female students are more agree with the negative characteristics of tourism industry.Graduates from different families have significant differences in their views on the characteristics of the industry,and the graduates from the countryside are more accepting of the negative characteristics of the tourism industry.There's no significant difference between the reasons why graduates of different degrees of education don't work in the travel industry.With working experience and no work experience graduates views of the industry characteristics factor have significant differences,and those with working experience are more accepting of the negative characteristics of the tourism industry.In addition,there is no significant difference between the reasons for the graduates of the family who are employed in the tourism industry and those who do not have the family to work in the tourism industry.Finally,according to the above conclusions,it is recommended to promote the employment of tourism professional students in the tourism industry:to reasonable arrange professional internship,to improve students' cognition of tourism industry and work,to cultivate professional interests,and to improve the working system and welfare benefits.
