After the 2008 financial crisis, with the improvement of standard for minimum wage of the enterprises employment and the optimization of labor laws, labor cost of labor intensive industry is getting higher and higher. However, in order to maintain the competitive capacity in global market,the enterprises need to promote more high quality and inexpensive goods. On balance,the business profit ratio is becoming lower. To maintain the development of enterprises, many of them begin to vigorously promote automation improvement projects, expecting to replace the manual by automated equipments, thereby reducing manufacturing costs. However, due to restrictions on manufacturing capabilities of domestic equipment in project-driven process automation inland, it is often found that device performance(efficiency & quality) falls short of expectations. How to solve various problems systematically that exist in the process of equipment operation has become a urgent matter that many companies need to deal with.Company F is an integrated electronic CONN industry manufacturing company, located in the East China coastal areas. The main products for consumer are electronics CONNs. As a labor intensive enterprise, with highlighting the problem of increasing labor cost and recruitment difficulties in coastal areas, company has vigorously promoted automation since 2008 and established the "Project 70" Project group, hoping to fully automated equipments replace 70 percent of the artificial. However, with the gradual implementation of automation equipment, the problems gradually appear, such as increasing type of equipment failure, high failure rate, the quality of the products below requirements and so on. With the background of vigorously promoting 6Sigma management in Company F, this paper imports equipment OEE concept and tries to use logic and 6Sigma management tools to solve equipment problems arising in the operation. This article focuses on the case of A69 USB automatic soldering machine OEE improvements,it effectively improves the capacity of the device performance and product quality and meets internal and external customer needs by using 6Sigma DMAIC improvement through the use of five stages. It also provides reference and practical experience in further promotion and application of improvements in equipment.
