After Obama came to power,he took the foreign policy of "containment" and "contact",and tried to improve the relations with DPRK,hoping to make North Korea abandon its nuclear program, however,North Korea conducted four nuclear tests during the Obama's administration, which North Korean nuclear issue is on the "historical backing ".The Obama administration has adopted policy of abandoning dialogue with North Korea until it has taken substantive steps of abandoning its nuclear weapons. After reviewing Obama's eight-year term, this policy did not solve the DPRK nuclear issue,on the contrary,it has greatly aggravated the conflict between the DPRK and the USA.The end of finishing writing this article happens to be with the end of Obama's term of being president, and the beginning of Trump administration. The writing time is available,so that it can make an overall, comprehensive and objective analysis on the policy of "strategic patience".This paper studies the concept of "strategic patience" and gives a complete definition of it.I hold the opinion than the strategy of rebalance to the Asia-Pacific make this policy which is a key part of the strategy. This paper evaluates the policy of "strategic patience",which achieves the "strategic purpose" successfully."THAAD" system is the great achievement of this policy, but this policy hasn's eased the ties between the DPRK and the USA,the "denuclearization" is a failure. In a word,The policy has more disadvantage than that.To maintain the security and stability of the Korean Peninsula, the new U.S.government needs to change the strategy, takes a more proactive approach to solve the problem. At the same time, this policy has a negative impact on China on many aspects, such as politics and military, the Chinese government and the department concerned need to actively respond in the new era.
