The idea of "Self-regulated Cooperative and Inquiry" has been proposed by the new round of basic education curriculum reform. Advocating by this idea, the inquiry teaching, which focuses on the training students' creative spirit and inquiring ability, becomes a commonly used teaching method in a high school since the new curriculum reform.Although inquiry teaching is advocated with great efforts in China, the present situation of ideological and political course gives priority to the acceptance teaching with regarding skill and despising ability. Students are lack of opportunities in inquiring questions, experiencing difficulty, constructing knowledge, cooperating learning in classroom, and most students are lack of interest and enthusiasm in ideological and political course. Although some teachers make use of inquiry teaching method, some problems, such as hyper correction and formality, are still exist. On the basis of a large number of literature, the author combed the related concepts and theories of inquiry teaching method, and made a questionnaire to analyze the current application situation of inquiry teaching method in ideological and political course. Through the above investigation and research, the concrete problems of the application of inquiry teaching method in the ideological and political course is expected to be found. Improvement of countermeasure is proposed to build a more reasonable basic operation model. The thesis contains five parts:The first part is introduction and is the bedding of this thesis. It introduces the research purpose, research significance, research status, research methods and ideas.The second part mainly expounds the inquiry teaching method in ideological and political course in high school. Connotation and characteristics of inquiry teaching method is defined through the summary and analysis of literature. The difference between inquiry teaching method and other teaching methods is discriminated and the concept of the inquiry teaching method in high school is summed up. The theoretical basis of inquiry teaching method is also combed and it made a theoretical support to the application of the inquiry teaching method in high school. On the basic of these, to conduct inquiry teaching pattern in high school ideological and political education, teachers should comply with the principle of inquiring, subjectivity, opening and directivity, and also analyzed the necessity of the application of inquiry teaching in ideological and political course.The third part mainly analyzes the current situation of application of inquiry teaching method in high school. The existing problems in the application of the inquiry teaching method is summed up on the basis of investigation. The main problems of teachers are less attention to inquiry teaching method, passive attitude, low theoretical level and limited accomplishment and ability. The main problems of students are unstablished inquiry awareness, lack of inquiry interest, weak ability of inquiry. Besides, limitations of inquiry teaching method itself, less attention to ideological and political course in school, lack of theoretical research on inquiry teaching method of social sciences subjects and pressure of education evaluation system are also obstructed the application of inquiry teaching method.The fourth part puts forward the improvement countermeasures of the application of inquiry teaching method in high school. The related countermeasures are proposed against the problems in the fourth part. The teachers need changing teaching concept, attaching great importance to students and promoting professionalism. The students need building inquiry consciousness, inspiring the inquiry interest and training the inquiry ability. Besides, school should pay attention to the ideological and political course and improvement security system of inquiry teaching. Educational evaluation mechanism should also be improved.The last discusses the detailed implementation of inquiry teaching method in high school ideological and political course. Detailed process of application of inquiry teaching method in high school are showed by the practical class example. Operation procedure of application of inquiry teaching method, namely creating the problem, discussion and investigation, inspiration and sublimation, are discussed afterwards.
