Since 1990s,key competencies have acquired the attention of the educational circles.At present,cultivating the key competencies of students has become an important issue and basic task of Chinese basic education.The key competencies of mathematics are the key abilities and personality qualities with mathematical characteristics.Among them,the key competencies of mathematics are the key literacy of students in mathematics learning and they are the essence embodiment of the key competencies of mathematics.“The strategy of solving problems”is the characteristic content in Maths textbook arrangement for the Primary School Published by Jiangsu Education Press.Studying the teaching practice of the cultivation of mathematical core competencies which based on“the strategy of solving problems" not only can enrich the teaching theory and practice of“the strategy of solving problems",but also cultivate the students’ key competencies of mathematics and develop their ability to think mathematically.The research mainly adopts the method of investigation and case analysis.From the perspective of cultivating mathematical core competencies,it constructs the framework of mathematical core competencies in primary school,which includes four dimensions:mathematical representation and transformation ability,mathematical communication ability,mathematical reasoning ability and mathematical problem solving ability.This division is mainly based on the characteristics of physical and mental development of primary school students and the characteristics of mathematics education in primary school.It studies the teaching practice of the cultivation of mathematical core competencies in primary school from the microscopic point of view,taking the“conversion strategy”in“the strategy of solving problems”as an example.According to curriculum objectives and content of the“conversion strategy”,the research analyzes the main mathematical core competencies in the“conversion strategy”based on the theory of mathematical core competencies.It investigates the present situation of the cultivation of mathematical core competencies in the teaching of“the strategy of solving problems”,by examining the students’ homework,papers and teachers’ teaching plans.The survey finds that students have these following problems:low ability of mathematical problem representation,weak consciousness of reasoning,unable to clearly express the problem-solving process,lack of review and reflection on problem solving.On the basis of these problems,the research designs the teaching of“conversion strategy”and carry out it from the perspective of cultivating mathematical core competencies.The result shows that students can quickly mastered“conversion strategy”and the four aspects of mathematical core competencies,such as mathematical representation and transformation ability,mathematics communication ability,mathematical reasoning and mathematical problem solving ability,also have different degrees of improvement.In addition,students’ academic performance improved significantly.The reflection of teaching effect finds that teachers are the key factors influencing the development of students’mathematical core competencies;the cultivation of mathematical core competencies requires teachers to fully excavate mathematical core competencies in Mathematics teaching material;the teaching of mathematical core competencies cultivation can improve the students’ enthusiasm to learn mathematics.Based on this,the following suggestions are put forward to the teaching of“the strategy of solving problems”,which aims at the cultivation of mathematical core competencies.Create inquiry questions situation to develop mathematical reasoning ability.Encourage the diversification of problem-solving strategies to develop representation and transformation ability.Guide students to express accurately to improve mathematics communication ability.Cultivate the habit of reviewing to improve problem solving ability.
