From the implementation of the full-time compulsory education English Curriculum Standard(experiment draft)in 2001 to the implementation of the 2011 version of the compulsory education English curriculum standard,the fundamental education English curriculum reform has gone through more than ten years.With the advancement and implementation of the English curriculum standard,many cities and regions basing on the requirements of the English curriculum standard bring about a series of changes and reforms such as teaching methods,teaching strategies,teaching evaluation and so on in local schools.Scholars have shifted focus on the study of the English curriculum standard from studies on the interpretation of the curriculum standard to studies on the situation of the implementation and enforcement of English curriculum standard in actual classroom teaching.Whether curriculum ideology and curriculum goal system of the new curriculum standard will be implemented and executed well or not,it mainly depends on whether front-line teachers convert the requirement of English curriculum standard into English teaching in class.There are actual problems such as the the complexity and diversity of different areas in the Three Gorges Reservoir area.In the course of putting the 2011 version of the compulsory education curriculum standard into effect,we will need to start from these practical problems in the region to delve into the implementation of the new curriculum standard.This study has investigated current implementation situation of junior high school English curriculum standard in the city of Wanzhou by methods such as questionnaire,interview,classroom observation and so on.This thesis aims at solving three questions:first,to survey the situation of implementation of English Curriculum Standard;Second,to find out the achievement and problems of the implementation of the English Curriculum Standards;Last,to come up with some suggestions in order to solve these problems.From the survey we can know that there are some achievements and problems in the implementation of English Curriculum Standards.Most teachers can use most teaching methods to cultivate students' comprehensive ability of using language.What's more,teachers can use multimedia to make their teaching perfect.But,there are still problems we should attach much importance to.Teachers lack of a better understanding and thinking for curriculum standard.In the aspect of students' comprehensive language using ability,students'comprehensive ability is ordinary,and they fail to fully achieve the result that curriculum standards required.The emergence of the above problems depends on lots of factors.Therefore,the junior school,education administrative department,English teachers and students should make efforts to solve these problems.The department should take measures to give more help for teachers to implement the English Curriculum Standards.And the junior school should create more chances for teachers to communicate with others teachers.And they should strengthen the supervision and management of the process of implementation of the curriculum.English teachers should change education idea,improve their own quality,and to combine multiple evaluation methods to evaluate students;The junior middle school students in learning to find suitable for their own learning method,strengthen the ability of autonomous learning.
