Selected Tranlation Of My Chinese-america And A Critical Commentary

The project consists of two sections.The first section is the Chinese translated version of the selected original text.The chosen chapters are Chapter 1,Chapter 2,and Chapter 4 from the essays My Chinese-America by Allen Gee.The second section is a critical commentary which analyzes the translation strategies and methods used during the translation.The critical commentary includes four parts:introduction to the project,significance of the project,strategies and methods employed in the translation,and conclusion.The project presents target readers deep influence of racial discrimination and Chinese-Americans' identity problems in America and makes readers know Chinese-Americans' life in the United States better.Besides,the project can provide sufficient materials for the researchers who work on the studies of Chinese-Americans'literal works.In the section of the critical commentary,the translator makes a deep analysis on how expressive text is translated under the guidance of semantic translation and communicative translation and employs many examples from the source text to exemplify them.Through rigorous search,the translator has not found the Chinese translated version of the source text in any form and way.Moreover,the related analysis of the translation strategies and methods employed in the translation is the translator's original writing.The translation project is of some guidance to those who study translation theory and practice.
