The development of economic globalization brings us both the opportunities and challenges of cultural exchange, integration and conflict. The multicultural interpenetration leaves the local cultures inevitably with "heterogeneous" traces. The original text of this translation project is chosen from the anthology entitled Cross-Cultural History and the Domestication of Otherness written and edited by Michal Jan Rozbicki. It focuses on the influence of foreign cultural values on the local people from different cultural backgrounds and the ways to find a balance between the local culture and the foreign culture. My translation incudes the introduction part, the first chapter entitled "The Converso Phenomenon and the Issue of Spanish Identity" and the twelfth chapter entitled "Cross-Cultural History:Toward an Interdisciplinary Theory".The goal of the translation project is to study how the local people deal with the conflict between the home-grown culture and the external culture and the process of accepting the foreign culture gradually. To begin with, the translator of this project analyzes the typology of the original text.According to Reiss' view on the text typology, the original text belongs to an informative text. Its purpose is to provide information, express ideas and be readable to the readers. The target text should transmit the complete conceptual contents of the source text. The whole translation is guided by Skopos theory, and the translator follows the purpose rule, coherence rule and fidelity rule. The difficulties in the translation lie in the numerous proper nouns, and long and complex sentences. In order to achieve the translation purpose, the translator has adopted the strategies of conversion, inversion, division, rearranging sentence structure and the change of the voices. In the translation process, the translator can apply some translation theories to practice and improve translation skills.
