A Chinese-English Translation Report On The Project Of Beautiful Nostalgia:Traditional Chinese Villages

Beautiful Nostalgia:Traditional Chinese Villages belongs to the "12th Five-Year"national key book publishing program.The Chinese edition has been published by the Chinese Architecture Industry Press.The book introduces the traditional villages in ten areas in China,such as southern Anhui province,southwestern Fujian province,mid-southern Guizhou province and so on.The villages and vernacular architectures in the vast majority of the ten areas have been listed in "World Heritage" or "Reserve List for the World Heritage",so they can be recognized as representatives of traditional Chinese villages with high value.On the basis of the target text of Beautiful Nostalgia:Traditional Chinese Villages,this report describes the translation process of the translation project,including the preparation stage,the translating stage as well as the checking and proofreading stage.In addition,some translation difficulties involved in the translation process are analyzed in detail,including lexical translation,sentential translation,discourse cohesion and grammatical issues.Besides,under the guidance of Newmark's text typology theory,some translation skills are provided to solve these difficulties in order to provide reference for similar translations in the future.Finally,the author's reflections are summarized.The author realizes the importance of accurately understanding the source text,polishing and proofreading the target text,cooperating with other translators in a translation project and so on.Besides,the author knows that she is supposed to be equipped with knowledge in various fields and enhance her bilingual ability,and the author also reflects on the lack of computer aided translation tools in the translation project.
