The translation of science fiction is still a new field in the translation of literary texts, and the literature that can be consulted is relatively few.But in recent years, with the increasing international exchanges, the introduction of science fiction has become an irresistible trend.Moondust, published in March,2017 and written by a young novelist,Gemma Fowler.,is a book with many professional terms and new words that are difficult to translate. With the help of Newmark's Text Typology and Eugene Nida's Functional Equivalence Theory, the author made a detailed analysis on the translation strategies and techniques applied in the report. There are four chapters in the translation report.Chapter One introduces task description, which involves an introduction to the translation task, background information of the author and the book, features of the original text as well as the significance of the translation task.Chapter Two describes the process of translation including pre-translation preparation,while-translating process and proofreading.Chapter Three deals with the case study, which is the core of the whole report. In this chapter, under the guidance of Nida's Functional Equivalence Theory, translation strategies and techniques applied in the translation practice are analyzed in detail combined with abundant examples. And in Chapter Four, conclusions are drawn from the whole translation task, and related thinking and limitations of the translator are presented to bring the report to an end.The paper aims to conduct a research on translation skills in translating science fiction and provide some references for future translation practice.
