China is now engaged in increasingly frequent international communications against the backdrop of globalization.Consecutive interpreting, one of the important forms of interpreting,is widely used on many occasions. The quality of consecutive interpreting is a major factor deciding the effectiveness of a communication. However, for this reason or that, beginner interpreters are prone to mistakes in practice, resulting in the low qLuality of interpretation in the targeted language. This paper is a report of the author based on a field practice,in which the author attempts to analyze two common errors in consecutive interpreting,namely:1)inaccuracy;2)ineffectiveness.Inaccuracy may take place when the interpreter chooses wrong words or misses valid information in his or her interpretation, while ineffectiveness may occur even if no mistake can be detected in the interpretation.Icn view of the characteristic of the text in this practice, the author chooses to discuss her interpreting practice from the perspective of the communicative translation theory,on the basis of which the author gives some tentative suggestions on interpreter'^preparation, the choice of interpreting strategies, and training.Hopefully, the author's efforts may bring beginner interpreters some useful material for reflection.
