In this great era of innovation and entrepreneurship, telling a good business story is telling a good Chinese story. So I participated in the translation project of Tell to Win,a book written by Peter Guber, chairman and CEO of Mandalay Entertainment Group, hoping to introduce Guber's superb storytelling skills that can transform ideas into action to the Chinese people who are carving out a career or are prepared to start an undertaking.I was responsible for the translation of the fifth chapter of the book and obtained positive feedback, and above all I benefited a lot from the process of translation.Given the fact that this is the most valuable translation project that I have ever been engaged in,I choose specially to take it as the base of this translation report. This report consists of five chapters: task description, preparation before translation, process description, case analysis and conclusion. It mainly introduces and analyzes how to make the translation fully achieve the communicative purpose under the guidance of Skopos theory. In the main chapter of case analysis,38 cases are shown to illustrate how to use the best pragmatic translation strategies and techniques to make the translation conform to the rules of fidelity and coherence and especially the skopos rule according to the contextual factors. The conclusion chapter is,in reality,a practice summary.Through much translation practice and the English-Chinese translation of the operative text like Tell to Win in particular,I have learned that high-quality translation will not appear unless the best translation strategies and skills are adopted under the guidance of appropriate translation theories;but the most important thing is the accomplishments of the translator in English and Chinese.
