A Report On The C-E Translation Of An Introduction To Dayang Heritage Town

The flourishing tourism industry boosts the development of the translation of tourist attractions.The translator was authorized to translate the An Introduction to Dayang Heritage Town which introduces the cultural landscapes in Dayang heritage town.This translation report describes the whole process of the translation task from searching background information to the reflection of translation.In this translation report,background information is introduced and the source text is analyzed.Text analysis shows that main difficulties lie in how to deal with the language structure,how to bridge the gap of cultural differences and how to improve readability and attract target readers' interest.Based on the analysis,translator's subjectivity is adopted as the guiding theory and specific translation methods and techniques are applied such as literal translation,transliteration,addition,and omission to produce a faithful and readable text.Several revisions are made to make sure it is acceptable for target readers.The translation practice reveals that translator's subjectivity is available for the translation of tourism text,and translator's subjectivity is restricted by translator's understanding of source text,background information and bilingual competence.Meanwhile,domestication and foreignization can be combined to achieve different effects,especially that of culturally-loaded words.As a translator,it is important to be familiar with the cultural differences between Chinese and English to enhance the acceptability of target text.
