Nowadays,employment has become a major concern of the whole society.It is one of the historic missions for translators to help the public understand the respective workplace culture of Chinese and Western,gaining some workplace skills.Although there are many kinds of versions of business and management books in China's home market,those from the perspective of female leadership and management are relatively hard to embrace.The source text is How Women Rise: Break the 12 Habits Holding You Back from Your Next Raise,Promotion,or Job,written by Sally Helgesen and Marshall Goldsmith.Aiming to arouse readers' awareness and assisting them in seeking measures concerned,Sally Helgesen and Marshall Goldsmith point out 12 habits hindering their climbing the career ladder.Based on the analysis,the author concludes that the informative function is playing a vital role in this business text with features of vocative function,and finally determines it as an informative text.Considering the difficulties encountered in translation,the author deems that communicative translation will help to convey the meaning of the text and improve its readability.In case study,the author discusses the translated text from the lexical,syntactic and textual levels.On the lexical level,the author's translation methods mainly involve addition,conversion and four-character structure;the translation methods adopted by the author on the syntactic level are restructuring,cutting,combination and negation.On the textual level,the author analyzes the source text from two aspects: one is grammatical cohesion,the other is lexical cohesion.In the end,the author offers some suggestions based on the limitations of this research,hoping to find out feasible methods for the translation of such texts.
