A Report On C-E Translation Of Environmental Impact Assessment Report For Water Purification Project (Excerpt)

This translation report is based on the C-E translation practice of Environmental Impact Assessment(EIA)Report for the Water Purification Project of Shihe,Wujing Town,Linqu County.Under the guidance of functionalist Skopos theory,this report explores the strategies of the C-E translation of environmental assessment report.It can provide translation strategies of environmental texts for other translators,while the target language countries can learn more about China's green and sustainable development concept from the target text.This translation report is divided into four chapters.The first chapter is the description of the task,which mainly includes the source of the text,features of source text and the significance of the research.The second chapter is the process of translation,including preparation,time arrangement and quality control.The third chapter is case analysis and this chapter is the key part of this report,which analyses some specific cases from lexical level,syntactic level and discourse level in the perspective of Skopos theory.At the lexical level,the translation of professional terms and four-character expressions are discussed;at the syntactic level,the translation of active voice and sentences without subject are analyzed;at the discourse level,the contextual cohesion method is studied.The fourth chapter is a summary of the translation practice.Some translation reflections and problems to be solved are put forward.The environmental assessment report text belongs to informative texts,and its final purpose should be to output effective information.When translating such texts,translators are expected to use relevant translation methods and strategies reasonably under the guidance of Skopos theory to make the target language fluent and readable.
