Sports Escort Interpretation From The Perspective Of The Interpretive Theory

“2018 World ParaVolley Super 6--Women,Chengdu,China” is a large-scale sports event held in Wenjiang District,Chengdu.As six teams are from various countries and there are language obstacles,interpreters are in need to promote communication.Because there is little research about the interpretive theory applied in escort interpretation for sports events,the author is interested in giving a brief analysis in this area.The interpretive theory emphasizes the communication sense of interpretation,which is in accordance with the purpose of escort interpretation in this event and it is of great guidance in case analysis in this thesis.Therefore,the author chooses the interpretive theory as the theoretical support.In order to carry on detailed research,the author chooses her escort interpretation experience in the event as the research material.First,the report gives an introduction to sports escort interpretation and describes the background of the task and interpretation process.Afterwards,under the guidance of the triangular model from the interpretive theory,combining with translation strategies of amplification,omission,free translation and reasonable speculation,the report chooses typical cases to classify and analyze.Finally,the author raises her own suggestions for the choice of translation strategy and discusses the limitations of the practice and the report.The author hopes to provide some humble suggestions in a different perspective to people who want to learn about and explore this area.
