Recent years witness the rise of the divorce rate in China.Certainly,there are various reasons accounting for the phenomenon.But conflicts and frictions from daily routines are one of the most common ones leading to the result.Therefore,guidance for love relationships to avoid these conflicts and frictions or to resolve them properly at the beginning is necessary for a healthy relationship.Though some scholars study the topic domestically,few of them study translation of such books.Therefore,through this translation practice,the author expects to find out the strategies and methods for translating books of this kind,and further provides experience about the translation and study of them.In this report,the author of the thesis chooses We Do: Saying Yes to a Relationship of Depth,True Connection,and Enduring Love,a book written by an American couple therapist to study.Firstly,the author analyzes the content and linguistic features of the book from the lexical level,syntactic level,and the discourse level,aiming to find out specific features of it.And then,based on Text Typology Theory,the report discusses ways to translate them through cases.In the process,the author of the thesis discovers that books about love relationships fall under the operative ones.So,they can be regarded as operative texts to study.And the study has its significance.One contribution is that it provides a new type to operative texts.Except for that,the application of the theory in this report proves that Text Typology Theory is applicable for studying books in this field.It is hoped that the report could give some insights to those who want to know the characteristics of this kind of books and the strategies for translating them.
