A Mock Interpretation Report On Technical Meetings Of The 7th CISM Military World Games Under The Guidance Of Adaptation Theory

With the acceleration of globalization,developing China has more and more cooperation and exchanges with the world in culture,academy,and sports.China has also held a bunch of international sports events in recent years.The 7th Military World Games was held in Wuhan from October 18th to 27th,2019 and the events held in the East Lake were Cycling,Marathon and Open Water Swimming.There was a technical meeting about the competition before each event.However,there exists rare research on the interpretation of technical meetings of sport events.Recently,with the promotion of China's international status,more and more important international sports events have been held in China.Therefore,the research on the interpretation of technical meetings of sports events becomes extremely necessary.On the basis of adaptation theory,using language is a process of continuous linguistic choice-making by the utterer and interpreter.Linguistic choices are made both in the process of producing and interpreting an utterance.The success of interpretation depends on the linguistic adaptation made by the interpreter from different perspectives of adaptation theory.This thesis chooses the consecutive interpretation of technical meetings of the 7th CISM Military World Games and analyzes the interpretation from the preparation of parallel texts and terminology before interpretation.But the majority of the thesis is the analysis of linguistic adaptation from the perspective of contextual correlates of adaptation and salience of adaptation.Through this report,the author finds that the adaptation theory can be applied to the analysis of the interpretation of technical meetings of the 7th CISM Military World Games,which means that there is compatibility between them.The analysis can be conducted in detail from the linguistic level as well as the cultural level.The author launches this thesis from the communicative context and linguistic context of contextual correlates to discuss the adaptation of linguistic level;the thesis is launched from the planning,memory and metapragmatic awareness of salience to analyze the importance of interpreter's cognition in the process of interpretation.This thesis is beneficial to a deeper comprehension of technical meetings interpretation,and it can also provide a useful reference for future research on technical meetings interpretation.Analyzing the interpretation of technical meetings of the 7th CISM Military World Games with the help of the adaptation theory,the thesis summarizes some skills and strategies that can be employed for the interpretation of technical meetings and it intends to provide some reference for the technical meeting interpretation and give some enlightenment to the author's interpretation goals.
