Translation Of "A Of B" Structures Under The Guidance Of Skopos Theory

In English text,there are a lot of “A of B” structures.This structure seems to be simple in form,but it is difficult to deal with and brings some difficulties to translation.There are many semantic relations between A and B in this structure and the translation methods are not the same.The author finds that if all the “A of B” structures are translated according to the customary translation method,the translations will not be able to accurately convey information and even be difficult to understand.Therefore,as a difficulty in the translation process,it is urgent to explore different translation methods of “A of B” structures.This translation practice report takes the educational text Seven Myths About Education as the translation material,takes “A of B” structures as the research object,starts from the logical relationships between the two parts of “of”,and discusses the translation methods of the structures in depth,in the hope to apply the results in the future translation practice.The main contents of this translation practice report are divided into five chapters: the first chapter summarizes the tasks of the translation practice,expounds the background of the implementation of the translation practice and its practical significance to the author and the readers,and briefly introduces the author and the content of the translated works from a macro perspective;The second chapter describes the detailed process of the translation practice,including the preparatory work done by the author to ensure the smooth progress of the translation,how the practical task is carried out and promoted,and how to improve the quality of the translation after the completion of the translation work;The third chapter introduces the internal semantic relations and classification of “A of B” structures,and summarizes the development of Skopos Theory and its guiding significance to this translation practice;The fourth chapter is the core part of this report.Based on the purpose,coherence and fidelity principle of Skopos Theory,five translation methods are summarized on the basis of analyzing a large number of cases,including manifesting logical relations,transforming logical relations,manifesting figurative meanings,omission and addition;The fifth chapter is a summary of the author's experience in translation.The purpose of this translation practice report is to provide effective reference for the translation of “A of B” structures,and tries to enlighten the readers with the educational concept in the translation,so as to provide new ideas for people who are concerned about education in China.
