This is an English-to-Chinese translation report.The source text was selected from the training materials of a domestic headhunting companies — Beijing Career International(Ningbo Branch).The translator translated the fifth to the eighth chapters of the book Secrets of the Executive Search Experts.This report can be divided into four chapters.Chapter one discusses the background,the significance of the translation project and the theory applied.Chapter two is devoted to introducing the source text,its authors and features.Chapter three is the case study,which mainly analyzes the translation of business letters and dialogue texts from the perspective of functional equivalence.In terms of business letter translation,lexical equivalence can be achieved through word class conversion,depending on the full preparation of HRM terminology.And to achieve stylistic equivalence,the adjustment of the business letter format and corresponding translation are applied,observing the politeness principle.In the translation of dialogue text,syntactic equivalence is achieved by adjusting word orders and converting passive voice to active voice.And textual equivalence is managed by analyzing the source text and cultural context.The last chapter is the conclusion of the translation project,including the enlightenments and the limitations of the translation practice.
