A Practice Report On Interpreting For The International Passive House Conference

On October 9,2019,the 23 rd international passive house conference was held in China for the first time out of Europe.The design philosophy of "passive house" was advocating the use of passive air exchange,noise isolation and other means to create livable buildings that are better than the traditional buildings.Previously,the industry of passive house had barely been mentioned in China,where“passive house” was a relatively new concept to most people.In this context,translators and interpreters have become an important bridge to introduce this new concept to China.In the process of communication,translators and interpreters need to consider how to guarantee the correct and complete transmission of information under the objective factors such as on-site pressure and cultural differences.For this practice report,the author selected the simultaneous interpreting of three main parts of the conference,including the introduction of passive house given by the guide,the conference speech and answers to reporters’ questions by the directors and managers,and tried to discuss how to select the correct interpretation strategy according to skopos theory,in order to complete the interpreting task and to summarize an overall interpreting strategy.The report is mainly divided into the following parts: task description,preparations for interpreting,process description,case analysis and conclusion.Firstly,a brief introduction is given to the source and requirements of the project,followed by a detailed introduction to the process of the project.In the following parts,specific cases of actual problems and analysis were included,summarizing the success and deficiency in practice activities.Finally,all the discussions in the report would be reviewed and summarized,thus to provide more reference for further research and study.
