| Interpreting plays an indispensable role in the communication of different cultures and languages,especially in the increasing globalization context.However,it is inevitable for interpreters to make mistakes in the process of interpreting.Therefore,how to avoid these common mistakes as much as possible in the process of interpreting is the goal that every interpreter should work for.By studying and practicing in the past two years,the author learnt some theoretical knowledge and basic interpreting skills.However,through continuous practice and reflection,the author finds that there are many problems needed to be addressed in English-Chinese consecutive interpreting.How to reduce the problems of misinterpreting and overlooked parts of interpreting in E-C interpreting as much as possible is the subject of this thesis.This practice is related to the celebrations of the 60th Anniversary of Ningde Normal University.A speech“A Brief Introduction of My Hometown”delivered by Mr.Andy was consecutively interpreted by the author.By analyzing the transcribed text of site recordings,the author found the errors made in the interpreting such as misunderstanding of the source language,unclear expressions of interpreting,misinterpreting,overlooked parts,repetition of interpretive language.By classification of these errors and with the guidance of Interpretive Theory,the author further analyzed the problems in the process of E-C interpreting,and proposed solutions such as improving multitasking,strengthening pre-interpreting preparation,enhancing listening comprehension,coping with psychological stress,and appropriately using free interpreting,etc.By reflecting on this practice combined with the theory,the author realizes that it is significant for an interpreter to improve his interpreting ability in practice.This report is not only conducive to improve the author's interpreting work in the future,but also offers some enlightenment to the novices of interpreting. |
