This translation report is based on the translation of the first two chapters of Adventures in the Anthropocene. The book shows the knowledge of geographical science and its author's travel notes around the world. It's a popular science text in the category of non-literary texts, and it combines the content of travels with a touch of literariness in addition to the objective content of geographical science. That's why it's evident that the text is to call up people to do something for the geographical environment. On that basis, the author of this report tries to reproduce the “vocative” function of the ST in the TT in terms of three aspects:literariness, authenticity and logicality, which may give rise to respective translation questions.Literariness is represented by the translation of vivid words and figures of speech;authenticity by the translation of numbers and examples;and logicality by the realization of parallel structures and textual cohesion. This author analyses the translation problems and solutions in words, figures of speech, syntaxes and discourse respectively which contributes to the representation of literariness, authenticity and logicality of the ST,for the purpose of successfully reproducing the Vocative function in the TT by first translating the former three text characteristics in the TT.In solving the translation problems, many translation methods such as amplification, omission, adaptation and explanation can be used. The author has learned and improved herself in many aspects through translating and writing the report. It is wished to be conducive to lots of other translators.
