Aging of population is an inevitable outcome of economic and social development as well as a common development trend faced all over the world.Such change to population age structure has posed unprecedented challenges and various social problems to human's social life in the new century.Consequently, how to correspond to the aging of population has become one of top agendas for governments of all countries. As a country with the largest population in the world,China is facing a very difficult-to-overcome issue in the process of pursuing for civilization, health, happiness and eternal peace, that is,the population issue of China.According to the data of China's fifth population census in 2000.China's population age structure was entering old population structure age and the trend continued to develop further. The result of the sixth national population census in 2010 shows that China's aging of population continued to develop in both depth and breadth.Among the large number of aged people in China, those in rural areas are much higher than those in cities regarding number as well as the degree and speed of aging. To sum up,the aging of rural population in China will become very severe. In the process of constructing a well-off society in an all-round way,the three agricultural problems(agricultural, rural and farmer problems)that are closely related to national economy should be solved as priorities.Rural area is the potential force for driving agricultural modernization and the key to deepening rural reform. To make sure rural economy and society develop harmoniously and realize the Chinese dream of national rejuvenation under the background of the aging of rural population,it is significant in both theory and practical levels to strengthen the research on the aging of rural population, explore for a new way to handle the problem in a scientific way and construct a corresponding policy and measure system. At the beginning of this study, the author looks up and collects a lot of literature and data related to the subject, summarizes research achievements of experts at home and abroad on the issue of the population aging in rural areas and sorts out the general status quo of China's population aging. Then the author clarifies concepts related to population aging and the aging of rural population and regards marxist population theory, population structure and population transition theory, population sustainable development theory and China's modern population policy as the foundation for follow-up studies. Moreover, the author learns about the status quo of rural population aging in China as well as regional distribution features and future development trend through studying and analyzing statistical data related to population census. It is discovered that the aging degree of Chinese rural population gets increasingly severe and the proportion of aged population goes up constantly and gets higher than the overall economic development level and speed;the aging degree of rural population is higher than that in cities;the aging degree of rural population is higher in mid and western areas than in eastern area;the aging index and old-age dependency ratio show a tendency of constant going up.Furthermore,in response to the big number of aged population in rural areas, the high aging speed and unbalanced development between regions, the author makes an analysis and concludes that birth rate, death rate and migration rate are important reasons that have led to the aging of rural population;then the author illustrates problems existing in rural social security from support for old people, medical treatment and spiritual consolation as well as the great impact of rural population aging on China's rural economic and social development. Finally, the author studies by following the idea of defining characteristics and reasons of the problem and discussing solutions to further analyze how to deal with the aging of rural population in a scientific way from perspectives of society, government, family and individual.
