Measurement Of Multidimensional Poverty Index Of Chinese Women And Analysis Of Poverty Factors

For a long time,the phenomenon of poverty has existed in the social life and hindered the development of the country to a certain extent.The various policies promulgated by the State to combat poverty have gradually alleviated the poverty problem in our country,and the number of the poor population has been decreasing year by year.However,it is worth noting that the female population still accounts for a large proportion of the poverty population and is the worst hit areas of poverty.Therefore,the study of female poverty and the exploration of the causes of female poverty are of great importance to the precise poverty alleviation and the comprehensive solution of poverty.In the early days,scholars only understood and measured poverty from an economic perspective.They used the "one basket" method to measure people's poverty using income(consumption)indicators.This measurement method was also used by the World Bank to measure poverty in developing countries.Although the methodology is simple and easy to measure,it does not provide a fundamental explanation for poverty.With the development of Sen's ability theory,multidimensional poverty concept has gradually been recognized by many scholars and has become a research hotspot of poverty theory.Now that the number of poor people in our country has been decreasing year by year,there are still some poor people.Such people are the main groups that have not been able to get rid of poverty for a long time.Therefore,when it comes to poverty alleviation,it is even more necessary to target this group of people.Women account for a large proportion of the population living in poverty,which makes it even more important to adopt more targeted measures for women as a group in the fight against poverty.In view of this,this paper uses Chinese household tracking survey data to measure the causes of female poverty in disease excavation.Based on the theory of female poverty and Sen's theory of capability deprivation,this paper takes female individuals as research objects,selects indicators from the perspective of capability deprivation,and finally designs twelve multidimensional poverty indicators including four categories,of these categories are related to female deprivation of ability,namely health,education,livelihood security and standard of living.Then,using the A-F method,the index system was applied to the method,and the 2014 and 2016 data from China Family Panel Studies were used to calculate the poverty status of the Chinese female population.From 2014 to 2016,the incidence of poverty from single dimension to five dimension and the multidimensional poverty index showed an increasing trend,but the increase was not large The incidence of poverty and the multidimensional poverty index from five to higher dimensions showed a downward trend,and the average deprivation share also showed an upward trend.According to the selected twelve indicators,when more than thirty percent of the indicators(the more than three indicators in this paper)are in poverty,the individual is defined as in multidimensional poverty.Logistic Regression was used to analyze the effect of related factors on the incidence of poverty The results show that the longer the housework time,the more children,the gender inequality and other factors will increase the probability of individual poverty Married,employed,and educated women are less likely to experience individual poverty.The innovation of this paper is the following two points:First,in the research object,this paper takes Chinese female population as the research object,not only selects the index from the Family Angle,but also selects the index from the Individual Angle,then uses the A-F method,combined with the selected index system,the multidimensional poverty index of the female population in China is ealculated.Secondly,according to Amartya Sen's theory of capability deprivation and the theory of female poverty,the index system is constructed to measure the multidimensional poverty index of female individuals.At the same time,there are some deficiencies in this research:Firstly,the paper selects the indicators from the categories of indicators,because of the limitation of data sample,the selection of multidimensional poverty indicators is not comprehensive Because of the interaction and complexity of the factors affecting poverty,the weight of each index can not be calculated accurately,so an ideal equal weight method is adopted to simplify the calculation process This will affect the accuracy of the final result to some extent.Second,data cleansing leads to a significant reduction in the sample size of individual women,which increases the likelihood of error in the results.
