The college entrance examination and enrollment system reform for Henan province is on the way.At the same time,the entrance examination reform of senior high school is also in progress.The career development education in junior middle schools is based on the disciplines of education science and the theories of psychology,incorporating the contents of guiding students to become fully self-cognition,to know about the occupation environment,to master the scientific and cultural knowledge gradually,to familiarise themselves with the research areas of the subjects and their future applications,to enlighten the students’ career development and planning awareness and to cultivate students’ ability to practice and explore.Taking the forms of classroom teaching,practical teaching as well as visiting and experiencing,it aims to serve the junior middle school students’ academic progress and ability promotion.It is also a career development education which is closely connected with the students’ future development and other different parts of career education system.With the introduction of the documents on career development education issued by the Municipal Education Bureau of Zhengzhou in 2017 and the offering of courses in some pilot schools,especially the set-up of the Specialized Committee of Henan Education Science Research Association On Career Development Education,the career development education of Henan province has set sail.A systematic and comprehensive career development education system will be gradually established.Through the research methods of documentary analysis,questionnaire survey and interview survey,I make investigations of the status of career development education in junior middle schools in both urban and rural parts of Henan(including independent junior middle schools and the middle school departments of high schools).Combining interviews and questionnaire surveys with the staff of the education administrative units,educational researchers,junior middle school principals,career development educational teachers,moral educational teachers,full-time teachers and students,I find the following problems of career develop education of junior middle school in Henan Province: There is a lack of unified planning and guidance of the implementation for the curriculum specification of career development education.Most of the junior middle schools have not established the career development curriculum.There is not enough class periods even in the schools that have offered the education.School leaders and teachers haven’t paid the enough attention to the importance of career development education,many of them don’t have a distinct or proper concept of the education.The staff of professional teachers have not yet cultivated.Career development education for junior middle schools now lacks of professional teaching materials.Furthermore the teaching effects of career development education aren’t good enough.The current career development education in junior high schools cannot meet the needs of the students.Through the analysis,the study finds that: The lack of curriculum standards and Guidance Opinions affects the development of the career development education of junior high school.The traditional employment concepts ignore the importance of the students’ career development ability education.The examination pressure limits the hours of career development education,the number of staffing quotas limits the introduction number of professional teachers,and for complex reasons the quality of original teacher training is not high enough.Professional materials publicity and popularization of the education are not enough,the supply of school-based teaching materials are also weak.Educational places restricts the learning experience of students,the dismissive of practice in the teaching process reduces the practicality of the course,the singleness of teaching forms weakens the interest of the subject.Moreover,schools,families and the society have not yet formed the resultant force of the career development education.On this basis,the study puts forward countermeasures to solve the problem: Improving the relevant rules,regulations and guidance.Establishing and improving the management system of career development education.Improving the quality of training for further education of the practitioners by gradually increasing the introduction of professional teachers and strengthening the construction of professional teachers.We should also enhance the publicity and promotion of the teaching materials,guide the implementation of the curriculum,encourage the researches and development of school-based curricula by qualified schools or professional research institutes to properly solve the problems of the development and application of curriculum resources.Last but not least,establishing a multi-support system of schools,families and society,bringing together educational efforts to get out of the troubles.
