The government gradually realized that the physical health of adolescents determines the future of national development.Therefore,it has begun to attach great importance to the development of physical education in schools.It is well known that physical education is the central link and foundation of physical education.Physical education assessment is the feedback and guidance for teaching work and promotes the healthy development of school sports.In this paper,the author investigates and analyzes the current situation of physical education and assessment in high schools in Xi'an,based on the theory of physical education teaching and assessment and the means of Questionnaire Survey.The paper aims to reveal the current situation and existing problems of physical education assessment in Xi'an,and put forward specific suggestions in order to gradually improve the evaluation of physical education teaching,give full play to the true value of assessment,and promote the healthy development of physical education.At present,high schools in Xi'an pay more attention to the development of physical education,so the overall level of physical education is relatively high.Now,the academic qualifications of teachers are basically bachelor degree or above,and the physical fitness test rate of students exceeds 76% but they are lacking in endurance and flexibility.Physical education teachers and students are constantly increasing their understanding of the importance,purpose and impact of PE teaching.They also agree with PE teaching evaluation content and methods,but they hope to further improve teaching evaluation methods.It is necessary to respect the individuality and creativity of teachers and students,enrich the evaluation content and diversified evaluation methods,pay attention to the use of comprehensive evaluation andformative evaluation,and also attach great importance to students' assessment of emotional attitude,mobilize and stimulate their initiative in order to play the real value of PE assessment and role,enhance their sports awareness and sportsmanship,improve the quality and level of physical education,and promote their healthy development.
