The Study Of College Counselors’ Professional Competencies

As the mainstay of ideological and political education,college counselors are the important and indispensable part of talent training.On the base of literature review,this study presents a topic called “study of college counselors’ professional competencies”.First,this study put forward the content of college counselors’ professional competencies.During the process of ideological and political teaching and self development demands,college counselors’ professional competencies are the complex of the most necessary thought,quality,knowledge,ability and attitude.The first part helps to provide content orientation for the whole research.Secondly,on the base of literature review of college counselors’ professional competencies,this study focus on the theories of Marxist classics,career development,Chinese traditional education theories and ideological and political education.Besides,the study of college counselors’ professional competencies responds to the realistic requirements of the fundamental requirements of social development,the common needs and expectations for the new changes of college students’ thinking and the development of college students and the inevitable requirements of college counselors’ development.Thirdly,on the base of example analysis,this study explores the specific contents and the scale model of college counselors’ professional competencies.According to the example analysis,there are four dimensions in the model,including professional consciousness,professional ability,professional knowledge,professional moral quality.Besides,the model can be divided into 10 level indicators and 23 basic indicators.Finally,on the base of the scale model of college counselors’ professional competencies,this study put forward some advice on how to promote counselors’ professional competencies.The promotion of counselors’ core competencies is a protracted and complicated process.We should base the rules of “political priority,people-oriented,practice exercise,system upgrading”.From the prospects of the Party and the government,society,college and counselors,we can promote counselors’ professional competencies by raising political position,strengthening the connotation construction of professional ethics,upgrading the level of professional competencies and knowledge.
