Guangdong Province is a major province of vocational education in China,yet the Pearl River Delta region concentrates the vast majority of high-quality vocational education resources,which highlights the problem that the regional development of vocational colleges in Guangdong Province is imbalanced.The Western Guangdong are underdeveloped areas,the remote geographical position and the lag of economic development seriously restrict the development of higher vocational education and the training of high-quality skilled personnel.Teachers are the foundation of teaching and the source of revitalizing teaching.It is of great theoretical and practical significance to study the teaching staff construction of higher vocational colleges in Western Guangdong under the realistic opportunity of the reform of the teaching staff construction in the new era,which improves the efficiency and quality of higher vocational colleges in Western Guangdong.It solves the problem of insufficient development of higher vocational education in Guangdong Province,and it is of great theoretical and practical significance to promote the balanced and equitable development of higher vocational education in all regions of Guangdong Province.Based on Educational Equilibrium Theory,Motivation-Hygiene Theory and Teacher Specialization theory,this paper investigates the current situation of the teaching staff construction of four higher vocational colleges in Western Guangdong by using literature research,investigation research,case study and statistical analysis.It is found that the overall structure of the teaching staff construction of higher vocational colleges in Western Guangdong is unbalanced;the quality of that needs to be improved;the effective management is lacking and the training of teaching staff is relatively lagged.Further analysis of the above problems finds that the low level of economic development,the lack of attraction for high-quality teachers,insufficient attention to teachers' specialization development,insufficient investments,difficult implementation of policies,and imperfect teacher training system are all factorsaffecting the teaching staff construction of higher vocational colleges in Western Guangdong.In view of the above problems,the thesis combines the advanced experience of the teaching staff construction in developed countries,and puts forward the suggestions to improve the construction level of teaching staff of higher vocational colleges in Western Guangdong,including giving full play to the role of government macro-control;planning the structure and layout of teaching staff scientifically;focusing on the construction of quality of teaching staff in higher vocational colleges;establishing effective management mechanism of teaching staff in higher vocational colleges actively;perfecting the teaching faculty training system of higher vocational education in Western Guangdong.These measures are taken to improve the level of teaching staff construction in Western Guangdong and to provide not only some useful reference for the relevant educational administrative departments to make decisions on strengthening the teaching staff construction in Western Guangdong but also specific operational path for the construction of teaching staff in higher vocational colleges in other underdeveloped areas of China.
