This study researches the competency of university postgraduate cadres with a combination of quantitative analysis and qualitative analysis.On the premise of analyzing the relevant theories of competency,this paper discusses the composition of the competency elements of university postgraduate cadres,and completes the construction of the competency model for university postgraduate cadres.After investigating the status quo of the implementation of the competency level of university postgraduate cadres,the study draws conclusions through empirical analysis.It provides certain reference standards and factual basis for university administrators to carry out the related work of postgraduate cadres.Firstly,this study collects and summarizes the competency elements by literature research,behavioral event interviews and open questionnaires survey method.On the basis of expert evaluation,making the questionnaire of the "competency of university postgraduate cadres".A questionnaire survey was conducted on the full-time postgraduate students in N University,and the data obtained were statistically analyzed.The results show that the competency model of university postgraduate cadres includes four dimensions: working ability,personal characteristics,interpersonal character and political accomplishment,with a total of 22 competency elements.After statistical test,the scale in this questionnaire has good reliability and validity.Therefore,the questionnaire compiled in this study can be used as an effective tool to test the competence level of university postgraduate cadres.Secondly,based on the competency model of university postgraduate cadres,this study compiled the Questionnaire status survey for the competency of university postgraduate cadres.A survey was conducted again for the full-time postgraduate students of N University.Taking the gender,grade,major,place of birth,political status,working time,and whether the only child are used as grouping variables to discuss the level of competency of university postgraduate cadres in different groups and their differences.The results are as follows:On the whole,the self-assessment level of postgraduate cadres in N University is39.3% at the "relatively consistent" level and 59.5% at the "very consistent" level.The peer-assessment level of postgraduate cadres is 65.4% at the "relatively consistent" level and 23.2% at the "very consistent" level.In the difference analysis of the self-assessment level of competency of postgraduate cadres of in N University,there are no significant differences in gender,grade,and part-time other positions variable.There are varying degrees of significant differences in the overall or in certain dimensions in terms of major,place of birth,political status,Whether the only child,working time,and rank.In the difference analysis of the peer-assessment level of competency of postgraduate cadres in N University,There are significant differences in gender,grade,and major in general or in some dimensions,but no significant differences in political status.Thirdly,this study is discussed as a whole,and apply this model to the selection,training and evaluation of postgraduate cadres.Finally,the conclusions of this study are drawn and the shortcomings of this study are analyzed.At the same time,the future research is prospected.
