With the popularization of higher education and upgrading of industry,universities of applied science are coming into being,lacking of standards and outstanding examples of the conditions for running schools.Therefore,it is of profound significance to study the conditions of running university of applied science.This paper discusses the origin and development of universities of applied science at home and abroad,and analyzes the development of universities of applied science in China.Afterwards,with the analyzing of cultivation objectives and type of campus,we define the concept of university of applied science in China,and summarize five characteristics of it,including applicability of cultivation objectives,dual nature of education-running levels,diversity of school-running subjects,practicability of major setup and flexibility of teaching methods.Finally,basing on the five characteristics and the current educational conditions,we decide to research the conditions of running universities of applied science in three aspects,which is professional construction,teaching staff construction and practical training base construction.We will draw lessons from foreign mature experience and domestic successful case of Universities of Applied Science Alliance,then put forward construction principles and optimized path and proposal of the three aspects.Firstly,in terms of professional construction.We need to establish a market-oriented mechanism to do market research and connect with professional positions.We are supposed to enhance our professional attractiveness,broaden the channels of publicity to ensure that students can make a right choice.Besides,we should develop special specialties,optimize professional layout,and establish advantageous professional groups.And we should improve the assessment system and make a good use of the feedback mechanism to ensure long-term development.Secondly,in the construction of teaching staff.The principle of teachers' introduction should be followed,which are giving consideration to both teaching level and practical experiences.And we should obey the cultivation principle of satisfying both internal and external training.Then we should pay equal attention to material incentive and spiritual motivation.The optimization plan includes the following three points: first,broadening the channels and upgrading the system of talents introduction;second,creating opportunities to improve the system of teacher training;third,reasonable incentive and updating the teacher management mechanism.Finally,in the construction of practice training base.We are supposed to follow four principles including diversification of funding sources,normalization of university-enterprise cooperation,practicality of base project and standardization of base using.In detail,we should pay attention to three aspects: first,formulating relevant laws to secure practical training bases construction;second,deepening the cooperation of school enterprises to build and share practical training bases jointly.third,innovative management mode and scientific using of practice training base are necessary.In this paper,we make a thorough research of professional construction,teaching staff construction and practical training base construction of universities of applied science,and draw a conclusion of construction paths,which make it more evidence-based and predictable to run universities of applied science in China.
