With the advent of the era of democratic society and governance,teachers' participation in school governance has become one of ways to promote the democratic reform of schools and improve the modern governance system of schools.Teachers' participation in school governance is of great significance not only to the overall development of schools,but also to the personal career and growth of teachers.Taking four schools in S city of Shanxi Province as an example,this study adopts the method of combining quantitative and qualitative analysis.The research investigated the factors affecting teachers' participation,the content and extent and its ways of teachers' participation,and the impact of teachers' participation in school governance.Finally,optimization suggestions are put forward according to the result and analysisThe results show that:(1)Self-fulfillment demand is the most important factor affecting teachers' participation.(2)Teachers' actual and expected participation in various affairs from high to low is: teaching affairs,student management,personnel arrangements,financial allocation.And the participation of teaching affairs is the only one to reach the expected value.(3)Gender,teaching age and position influence the degree of teachers' participation.(3)Teachers' participation is mainly through teaching and research group meetings and face-to-face reflection.(4)Participation in school governance meets teachers' needs for security,belonging and self-fulfillment.According to the results of the survey,the author analyses the present situation of teachers' participation in school governance from three aspects:(1)Motivation of participation: The need to maintain the right to know and self-fulfillment impels teachers' participation;The lack of time and low self-efficacy hinder teachers' participation.(2)Participation process: The content of teachers' participation is subject to interests and knowledge possibilities;The degree of teachers' participation pursues appropriateness.The way of teachers' participation is not institutional andorganizational.(3)Guarantee of participation: There are inequalities in teachers' participation.Schools pay attention to the spiritual incentives for teachers;The "principal responsibility system" has two sides.Based on the results of the survey and the analysis of the current situation,the author puts forward three suggestions for the optimization of teachers' participation in school governance:(1)Expanding more possibilities of participation in school governance from the individual level of teachers.(2)Precise allocation of participation content and procedural participation process in the process of participation.(3)Give opportunities and guarantees for schools to participate in governance from the organizational level.
