Academic reading is an important learning method for academic masters in humanities and social sciences,which has an important impact on its development.However,there are few academic reading studies on this aspect.There is neither a specialized investigation of the reality nor an in-depth study of experience.These are the shortcomings in the existing research.Therefore,this paper focuses on the academic reading of academic masters in humanities and social sciences by questionnaire and interview.Through the questionnaire survey,this study finds that the overall input of academic reading is insufficient,such as the low number of academic reading,superficial cognition,less interpersonal interaction.Combing with the analysis of interview data,this paper finds that the experience of academic reading can be divided into three stages,including initial exploratory reading,medium-term selective reading and later goal-oriented reading.At the same time,this study reveals that the changes of academic reading experience are related to self-identity construction.The construction of individual identity can be divided into three stages: identity exploration,identity experience and comparison,and identity selection,which corresponds to the stages of academic reading.Because the value of academic reading is different for each stage of identity construction,so the academic reading state under different identity construction stage is different.In addition,this study finds that the learning environment plays an important role between academic reading experience and identity construction.As far as the environment faced by academic masters is concerned,individuals have a preliminary understanding of the academic reading environment,that is,academic-oriented and self-development orientation environment.In the early stage of academic reading and identity exploration,the influence of such environment on individuals is potential but profound.For example,some students form a prejudice academic view and self-awareness,which affected their academic reading experience subsequently.In the medium term,following the individual's development needs emerging,the contradictions between the construction of academic identity and individual needs gradually become intense,including the inconsistency between academic-oriented environment and non-academic personal needs,and the inconsistency between self-development orientation environment and the lack of independent capabilities.Therefore some individuals seek to meet needs outside the academic environment,even outside school environment.Consequently,in order to improve students' academic reading status,it is necessary for teachers to strengthen academic reading guidance and support to promote students to form reasonable understanding about academic reading.At the same time,schools need to create a good academic reading environment for students to satisfy different needs of different students.As the academic reading subject,students need to establish a correct academic reading view and academic view.
