"Group Text Reading" is a newly emerged instruction mode in the field of Chinese reading instruction,breaking the tradition of only teaching one text in one class.It is a mode where the teacher organizes multiple articles around one or more topics which enables students to achieve collective construction by reading and discussing these articles.Being open and explorative,Group Text Reading increases students' reading amount,cultivates their reading interest and develops their reading strategies.However,there has not been a systematic study of Group Text Reading in junior high school and it is currently in the stage of exploration and summary of practical experie nce.The exploration of Group Text Reading should not stay in the theoretical interpretation and demonstration classes.Only in the first line of teaching can it be tested and developed.This paper consists of four chapters:the first chapter explains its theoretical basis,definition and relevant core concepts,differentiates it with other reading instruction modes,illustrates its significance and value in both students' learning and teaching reform.The second chapter explores the application of Group Text Reading in Chinese classes in junior high school,analyzes its feasibility in the current system.To understand the major problems and explanations of the application of Group Text Reading in Chinese teaching in current junior high schools,this research took Changzhou,a city of average education level in Jiangsu province,as an example,carried out the investigation in three ordinary junior high schools of the same level.It further cognizes the advantages and disadvantages of Group Text Reading in order to spark new ideas for the development of new reading instruction modes.The third chapter explores measures for improvement according to the result of the questionnaire survey.It mainly pays attention to issues on instruction resource exploration,balance between its form and content,development of its research and evaluation system.This paper also examines the "three combinations" system of Group Text Reading based on the school-based reading curriculum of Changzhou junior high schools.The fourth chapter,based on practical teaching,aims to further explore the instruction mode using the current junior high school textbooks.It includes the generation of instruction objectives and topics,text selection and organization,activity design and arrangement.According to the author's teaching design of "the World of Childishness Under the Pen of Famous Writers",a comparative experiment was carried out to test the teaching outcome.
