Following the self-determination theory, the main objective of this study was to analyze how the teacher's support influences students' basic psychological needs, and how students' basic psychological needs influence students' motivations in PE lessons.220 Students(age range: 14 to19 years old;107 boys,49%)from an international high school completed three questionnaires measuring teacher's support, students' basic psychological needs and their academic motivation.Using the SPSS software to do preliminary correlation and regression analyses. Results showed:(1)The teacher's autonomy support, competence support and relatedness support had a significant association with students' autonomy need, competence need and relatedness need as well as intrinsic motivation, identified regulation, introjected regulation and amotivation.(2)The teacher's autonomy support, competence support and relatedness support significantly predicted students' intrinsic motivation, identified regulation, introjected regulation and amotivation, and students' autonomy need, competence need and relatedness need played mediating roles in these associations. These findings imply that teacher's support is important, which will influence students' motivations by effects of students' basic psychological needs.
