STEM educational idea was originated from America more than 30 years ago,and now it has attracted wide attention from all over the world.STEM educational idea focuses on the students themselves,pays attention to their all-round development and breaks the discipline boundaries.STEM educational idea has become an important strategy to cultivate high-quality talents with its unique characteristics of interdisciplinary,comprehensive,collaborative and experiential.Looking through the international experience,the combination of STEM educational idea with science teaching in primary schools would better cultivate the abilities of independent thinking,practice,cooperative learning,innovation and problem solving.Based on the above,the author has carried out the research work,put the STEM educational idea into the original science curriculum content,and designed the primary schools science teaching case,put it into practice.The teaching case introduces activities that reflect STEM educational idea to enhance students' interest in learning scientific knowledge and exercise abilities of independent thinking,independent inquiry,cooperative learning and problem solving.The design and implementation of the case integrates the existing teaching of various subjects,and better implements the new requirements in the new edition of Science curriculum standards in primary schools at the stage of compulsory education.It has strengthened the practical exploration of the integration of STEM educational idea and primary schools science teaching in China.Furthermore,it has provided some reference experience for front-line educators.This paper consists of the following five parts.The first part is the introduction which can clarify the research background,research significance,research content and methods and research summaries at home and abroad.The second part is the theoretical basis,including the definition of related concepts,the characteristics of STEM education and the theoretical basis of this research.The third part is the teaching case design,which includes the selection of teaching topic Balance of Objects,the concept of case design,the teaching objectives in four dimensions,implementation plan and five specific cases design content(The making of tumbler,The making of balanced bird,The making of gyro,The making of gyro—Control variable exploration,Moving bike)and three kinds of teaching evaluation design,including work evaluation,performance evaluation,STEM teaching effectiveness evaluation.The case design includes teaching objectives,scene introduction,work design,work production,exchange and evaluation,reflection and summary.The fourth part is the implementation of teaching case,which includes the specific process of case implementation,the development of teaching evaluation and data analysis,case implementation summaries.Carry out five teaching cases in sequence,attach importance to the design and production process of students' works.The teaching evaluation adopts the evaluation scale and questionnaire compiled by the author,carry out work evaluation,performance evaluation,STEM teaching effectiveness evaluation to the students,combine formative evaluation with summative evaluation organically.At the end of this chapter,the whole teaching process is reviewed and summarized,and the improvements still need to be made to enhance the actual teaching experience.The fifth part is the summary and prospect,which summarizes the research work of this paper,including research conclusions,research deficiencies and research prospects.Through the data analysis of teaching evaluation results,the author found that students after the STEM course learning have enhanced the understanding and mastery of scientific knowledge,exercised the ability of scientific inquiry and increased the interest in STEM science learning,this certainly reinforces the necessity to integrate STEM educational idea into science teaching.It is hoped that more and more high quality STEM teaching cases will be put into the actual science teaching in the future.
