Since the 1980 s,with the accelerating process of China's reform and opening up,capital flows to cities, and the gap between urban and rural areas has grown. The broad prospects of the city's development are attracting more and more young people.Cities have formed the phenomenon of “hollowing out” in rural areas. The problems of the elderly, women, and children in rural areas have gradually emerged and have received widespread attention from the society.Especially the elderly, because of their age, their ability to continue to engage in productive labor is also gradually weakening. Therefore, the problem of poverty and old-age care for the elderly has become increasingly prominent. The Changtang Village of Shanglin County,Guangxi is located in the south-central part of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. It is a national village with abundant traditional agricultural resources and a slow development of modern industrialization. With the continuous development of the economy, people's demand for materials and spirits is also increasing.Left-behind elderly people, because of the out-of-home young family members, their needs in terms of economy, psychology, and health cannot be met in a timely manner, thus leading to a series of poverty problems. The development of the economy is always inseparable from the profound cultural logic behind it.The study of economic appearance will eventually take the attention of people as the end result. From the perspective of the elderly, the root causes of poverty do not simply exist in the poor themselves. They are in fact the social phenomena that have emerged in the entire social exchange system. The poverty problem of the elderly in Changtang Village is not only a simple material demand, but also reflected in many dimensions such as health, spirit and culture.Different definitions and criteria for the concept of poverty lead us to look at the differences in poverty. However,no matter how we look at this issue,we must maintain a clear understanding of the poverty of the elderly.Solving the multidimensional poverty of the elderly in ethnic areas not only promotes the sound development of intergenerational relationships, but also provides an important reference for narrowing the gap between urban and rural areas.
