As early as 2001,it was clearly stated in the "Full-time Compulsory Education Chinese Curriculum Standards(Experimental Draft)" promulgated by the Ministry of Education,that it was necessary "to Cultivate students' extensive reading interest,to read widely and massively".It was also advocated "to do less homework and read more books,to read a good book and read the entire book." Besides,it also put forward some reading requirements and suggestions for extracurricular reading.The Ministry of Education has always advocated that middle school students should read more books to broaden the breadth and depth of reading and increase their interest in reading.Thus it can be seen that Chinese textbooks cannot be the whole reading materials for students,on the contrary,students should wander in a broader sea of books,to enrich and enhance their spiritual life constantly.However,due to the rapid development of the Internet,although students read more frequently,they seldom read the whole book.Student's reading style gradually tends to be fragmented and fast-food,which makes it impossible to cultivate students' basic skills in listening,speaking,reading,and writing as well as language use in reading.It is also not conducive to improving students' key language abilities such as chanting and irony,aesthetic perception,expression and creation.At the same time,teachers failed to emphasize the importance of "reading the whole book",thus it did not get the attention it deserved.In addition,students lack reading time,on one hand,they spend most of the time on a tactics of several questions,on the other hand,their parents are very supportive of this.Thus reading the whole book has been much cry and little done,and did not attract real attention of teachers and students.Why we need to read the whole book?It is very beneficial to do so no matter in the national or personal level.Compared with one single chapter,a whole book has its unique sense of importance,system and comprehensiveness.It can be stored in the hearts of people for a long time,which is helpful to the inheritance and application of the classics,and is also conducive to the construction of a series of scholarly cultural activities advocated by the state.Furthermore,a whole book may have multiple expressions of narrative,explanation,description,discussion,and lyricism,and the writing techniques are also diverse and flexible.Under such intense influence,students can improve their key language skills of the core language.In short,reading a whole book meets the requirements of quality education,breaking through the limitations of examination-oriented education and has its unique advantages:it helps to cultivate students' ability to see problems comprehensively and form a holistic concept;it is helpful for students to feel the charm of masterpieces and to think critically;it helps to expand the scope of reading to other fields,not just in the field of literature;it helps to improve students' language literacy and enrich their spiritual world.However,reading a whole book is still in its infancy,despite the voice of the times.As a new term,"Chinese Critical Competence" has never been studied on a series of scales,and few studies have combined the promotion of Chinese Critical Competence with the reading of a whole book.Thus the author combines these two aspects together and hopes to provide a new perspective for junior middle school Chinese teaching.There are four chapters in this study.The first chapter mainly analyzes the connotation of the whole book and the connotation of junior middle school students' Chinese key abilities,and the relationship between these two aspects.This chapter first analyzes the difference between a whole book and fragmentations,and clarifies the features of a whole book reading.Then it expounds that the whole book is for junior middle school students,and the reading materials are all kinds of Chinese and foreign literary works,popular science fiction works,historical and cultural books,biographies,philosophical works and so on.Finally,it analyzes the promotional effect of a whole book reading on junior middle school students' language critical ability.The second chapter mainly describe the current situation of a whole book reading of junior high school students.Based on the questionnaires,this study found that the status of junior high school students' reading a whole book is not optimistic,and then according to the status quo this study figured out that the causes of this phenomenon is inseparable from the social environment and family education.The third chapter mainly studies the experimental teaching strategy of reading a whole book to improve Chinese critical competence.This paper introduces the author's personal experience from three aspects:stimulating students' interest in reading a whole book,cultivating their good habit of reading a whole book,and implementing the teaching process of reading a whole book.The fourth chapter mainly concludes some achievements of a whole book reading teaching experiment.The experiment helps students form a good atmosphere for reading a whole book,cultivate some good reading habits,such as reading concentratedly and systematically and improve their spiritual world and enrich their feelings.
