With the development and reform of education, the theory of multiple intelligences is more and more widely used in China's educational practice. In 2001,the outline of curriculum reform of basic education clearly proposed to take Gardner's theory of multiple intelligences as the theoretical basis for the curriculum reform. The theory of multiple intelligences emphasizes that students' multiple intelligences should be paid attention to in the teaching process, which coincides with the requirement of "all-round development" of talents in today's society.Due to the comprehensive features of geography, the ability of geographic image thinking is a requirement for geography learners,a concrete embodiment of the theory of multiple intelligences in geography learning, and also a necessary intelligence for art students. The ability of geographic image thinking requires students to acquire geographic information accurately and quickly, then processing and integrating the information in the brain,to connect with what's already in your brain and form your own framework of knowledge. Therefore, the cultivation of students' image-thinking ability is regarded as the key content in the reform of geography education, and the core issue of the reform of geography teaching in high schools should also be the cultivation of students' image-thinking ability. This is of great significance to focus on the cultivation of image-thinking ability of high school art students in geography teaching.Based on the full understanding of the new round of basic education curriculum reform and the new curriculum standard of high school geography, this paper selects high school art students as the research object and proposes the subject of cultivating the geographic image thinking ability of high school art students under the guidance of the theory of multiple intelligences.Based on the analysis of the cognitive development of high school art students and the teaching contents and teaching methods of geography, this paper holds that it is necessary to cultivate students' geographic image thinking ability in geography teaching, and cultivating students' geographic image thinking ability is an important way to implement the theory of multiple intelligences. This paper choose the theory of multiple intelligences theory, humanistic learning theory,multi-sensory teaching and meaningful learning theory as the theoretical basis, take the literature research, questionnaire survey, field investigation method and other research methods,to explore the current problems existing in the high school art students in geography learning,at last we found that most art students mastery of the knowledge base is bad and lack of confidence, lack of good learning methods and learning interests. Finally, this paper concludes that the cultivation of geographic image thinking ability can not only innovate the current teaching methods and teaching methods of teachers, but also improve the interest of art students in geography learning, and then improving the quality of teaching. On the basis of student oriented, according to reality, language and thinking, the combination of words and images under the guidance of the principle of combining, the intelligent classification according to the theory of multiple intelligences,we study and formulate the training art student geography image thinking ability, the eight ways are the map teaching strategy, draw a mind map, geography experimental teaching, visual AIDS demonstration strategy, cooperative learning strategy and language teaching, multimedia teaching, learning, reflection strategy.
